Overview of Teeth Cleanings

Even if you have a perfect oral hygiene routine at home, it can still be beneficial to have a professional cleaning at All About Smiles twice each year. A professional cleaning also gives us a chance to look for any issues in your mouth that may need additional care. A dental cleaning is a vital step in keeping up your dental health so make an appointment for yourself or your family at our Rogers, AR location.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer is an abnormal group of cells in the mouth, including the jawbone, lips, gums, throat, salivary glands, and tongue. Each dental examination at All About Smiles will include a thorough screening for oral cancer to check for any symptoms, including inflammation, sores, lesions, and lumps. Dr. Cotham will also feel your neck and jaw for abnormal growths. Should any areas of concern be discovered, All About Smiles can perform a biopsy or recommend care from a specialist.

Dental Cleaning Reviews

I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Cotham is the best dentist I’ve ever had, and his staff is incredible. I also had the Zoom teeth whitening done and my smile has never looked better. I highly recommend them.

Went for my annual teeth cleaning on ( July 21st 2020 ). As always everything went good. A little more going on with this " Ole virus " but they made everything as comfortable as possible. Trish, in the office to Kellie, and the staff in the back, in my opinion are first rate. I got there 25 minutes early and they took me back as soon as I walked in. Can't always find that just anywhere. Thank you!

My first visit to "All About Smiles" was very good. Kelly did an excellent job of cleaning my teeth and her 20+ years of experience was very evident. The x-rays and other pictures were outstanding due to the state of the art equipment. The office itself is very cheerful and bright with large windows in the exam rooms …which allowed beautiful views of the exterior well kept landscaping around the building. The staff are warm, friendly and treat you like they really care about you. Michael Krupka, D.D.S. explained his exam with a caring, honest voice and made me feel comfortable to trust in his solution to make needed repairs. Trish Wright, Office Manager, showed her caring spirit in scheduling my next appointment. I feel comfortable in recommending this fine dental establishment.

Best Candidates for Teeth Cleanings

The ADA (American Dental Association) recommends patients have a professional cleaning two times each year. Infants should have a visit to the dentist before they turn one and following that, Dr. Cotham can help you decide when your child is old enough for their next appointment. A professional dental cleaning may help you avoid cavities because built-up plaque, the main reason for tooth decay, is removed. A cleaning will also remove stains and tartar from your teeth. If you would like to freshen your breath, brighten your smile, improve your oral health, and avoid spending money on more expensive treatments, make an appointment for a professional cleaning for your whole family at All About Smiles.

What To Expect from Teeth Cleanings

Your dental cleaning will start by addressing the tartar and plaque deposits on your enamel, which is hard to remove at home with just daily brushing and flossing. Advanced tools are used to scale buildup without affecting the enamel. To start, a device with ultrasonic technology loosens large areas of plaque and tartar with a lubricating mist and high-speed vibrations. Next, a fine handheld instrument, such as a scaler or curette, will remove the remaining pieces. Every tooth will be scaled to get all the buildup. After your teeth are clean, your enamel will be carefully polished to strengthen it and remove stains. If requested or needed, a professional fluoride treatment may be done following your cleaning.

Teeth Cleaning Follow-Up

We may recommend cleanings more often if you have other oral health concerns, such as periodontal disease. Throughout your treatment, Dr. Cotham will help you come up with a home routine for good oral health by recommending dental products and demonstrating techniques that can focus on your needs. These are advantageous for your teeth, wallet, and overall health, so be sure to attend your dental appointments at All About Smiles.
